You Deserve More Than 6 Weeks

You Deserve More Than 6 Weeks

Becoming a mother is one of the most beautiful and life-altering transitions we go through — but it’s also one of the most under-supported.

As a mom and an acupuncturist, I’ve experienced this firsthand: the pressure to bounce back, the subtle (and not-so-subtle) messages that healing should be complete by our six-week postpartum checkup, and the reality that many women are still bleeding, still weeping, still figuring out how to feed their babies — and barely recognizing themselves — at that mark.

Let me be clear: six weeks is not enough.

Not for your body. Not for your mind. Not for your heart.

Real Recovery Takes Time

It takes up to two full years for the body to fully recover from pregnancy and birth. Hormones fluctuate long after the baby is born. Muscles, organs, and tissues need time (and support!) to restore. The nervous system — often strained by sleep deprivation and the intensity of new motherhood — needs gentleness, too.

And yet, so many women are expected to “be back to normal” by week seven.

It’s no wonder so many moms feel anxious, depleted, or disconnected — and think something is wrong with them. But nothing is wrong with you. The system is simply failing to meet your needs.

Healing Is Ongoing — and You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

You are allowed to ask for help. You are worthy of support — not because you’re struggling, but because you’re human.

Support can look like:

  • Acupuncture to regulate your hormones, improve sleep, calm anxiety, and support physical recovery
  • Community — trusted friends, support groups, or other mothers who get it
  • Emotional support from therapists, birth trauma specialists, or simply safe spaces to be witnessed
  • Nutrition and nourishment — not just what you eat, but how you’re cared for
  • Rest and space to integrate everything you’ve just been through

None of this makes you needy or weak. It makes you wise.

You Are Still Healing

Whether you had your baby six weeks ago or six years ago, if you’re still carrying tension, exhaustion, or pain — your body is simply asking for the support it didn’t get.

There is no timeline for healing. There is only honoring what your body, your heart, and your spirit need — now.

From One Mother to Another

At Mend, I hold space for women in all stages of the motherhood journey — before, during, and long after birth. You don’t have to do it alone. You don’t have to wait until you’re “in crisis” to get care.

You deserve to be supported, seen, and truly nourished.

If you’re ready to feel more like you again — I’d love to help.
