Simple Ways to Improve the Air Quality in Your Home

Bedroom: 

  • install carbon monoxide detectors close to bedrooms.

Livingroom: 

  • reduce the use of incense and candles.  
  • Vacuums with a HEPA filter attachment.  
  • Do not smoke inside.

Garage:

  • Avoid idling gas-powered machines inside the garage.
  • Be sure the door between your home and attached garage is properly sealed

Laundry Room:

  • Ensure your dryer efficiency vents towards the outside and isn’t blocked.

Windows

  • Open windows and doors daily to let fresh air inside.

Bathroom

  • Use the exhaust fan during and after your shower. Let it run for 45 minutes after every shower.
  • Repair damaged grout, caulking or tiles to avoid mold growth.
  • Clean any visible mildew immediately with soap and water

Below the House

  • Measure radon levels

Basement

  • Make sure gas-fueled appliances are well maintained
